Jane at the Convention centre organises the largest Southport Wedding Fayer with great execution, with three beautiful rooms to help you picture what your wedding could look like.  With the attendance of running wedding cars this is an ideal opportunity to get some great ideas.

This Georgian style wedding venue lends it self perfectly for weddings, with vast gardens at the rear to the amazing drive up  shadowed by trees, what more would a wedding photographer want.

Danielle looked stunning when she arrived & seemed kewl as a cucumber,  arriving in style with a limo I started the bridal shots inside and wanted to include the character of the limo in the shot, after than I following Danielle right through to the ceremony room, nipping in before hand to try and grab some impromptu photos of nervous Dan….

Mr & Mrs Berry… Wanted a good mix of reportage wedding photography with a mini minute portrait session, I’d already chosen the locations and had an Idea of what I wanted, I started off using the side wall of the Farrington Lodge to get something a little funky but wanted the majority to be very sensual using the driveway leading to Farrington Lodge, The Georgian House itself and then later in the evening the grounds at the back to catch the lowering light.

The wedding ceremony took place at St Marys Church, Prescott Road but first I arrived at Jo’s dads house to grab some impromptu shots of all the madness!  With plenty of people at the house and little ones running around there was no time to rest, I got straight stuck in to the atmosphere and managed to get some corkers of the boys playing, “thumb wars”…and when i say boys, not the groom and best man!

The weather was a little damp after the ceremony so we headed back indoors for some family shots, after this we headed straight to Mossock Hall Golf Club for the wedding reception.  The guys at Mossock Hall couldn’t have been nicer, having someone at the front door greeting everyone as they arrived I thought was a lovely touch.   Mossock Hall Wedding venue is very relaxed and unobtrusive meaning it’s ideal for my unobtrusive and reportage style.

The arrival of one chap during the day has been forever imprinted in my mind, the “Reptile Man”.  In over 5 year doing this professionally I have never seen something as unique as this, what a imaginative idea, it had everyone involved.  And of course made for some amazing wedding photographs.  Snakes, Reptiles, Owls and insects were just a few creepy crawlies on the menu, not to eat that is!

A+ for the most interesting wedding I have attended so far, Jo and Kev should be so proud of themselves for putting on such a great day.

I don’t think we could have asked for a more beautiful day, weather in that neck of the woods can be a little hit and miss with it being to close to the Trough of Bowland (often refereed to as Lancashires Hidden Jem).

Arriving around 10:00am Jen wanted coverage of the morning whilst the make-up lady was still around, catching the natural excitement of the morning madness.  This  is  a good opportunity for brides to get shots of the Wedding Dress and Wedding Shoes and Jewelery.  If the dress is in a decent position I’ll use it for some real depth of field shots engaging a real scene of pre-wedding preparations within the wedding photograph whilst still keeping to my natural photojournalistic manor (see photographs below)

The ceremony at Mitton Hall was to start at 12pm to be was conducted in the wedding vow’s room lined with crystals and candle light… absolutely stunning!  With the first dance at around 8:30pm I had a long day ahead but that didn’t worry me at all, with such a great couple and a venue most Liverpool Wedding Photographers want to attend, what more could I have asked for!

Jennifer and James wanted a real natural feel to their Mitton Hall Wedding Photographs, whilst making sure I included  family shots and portraits in the grounds, I am more that confident they will fall in love with this collection… in fact they did, see Jen’s response to viewing them for the first time.

Their Ceremony at Croxteth Hall was as sweet as you could imagine, Mel didn’t stop smiling from arrival to when I left them at the Museum in Liverpool.  Wedding Photography was a major part of Mel and Deans wedding plans and they both had set out to make use of the coulombs at St Georges Hall  before they headed to their evening celebration at the Liverpool Radisson.  As the sun was falling fast and on the wrong side of St Georges Hall to make best use of available light we decided to use the coulombs outside the Liverpool Museum instead, as you’ll see it was probably one of the best decisions i made on the day.

I arrived with plenty of time to spare at 62 Castle Street Hotel for Catherine & Brian’s Wedding so I had chance to have another good look around the hotel and get a feel for the venue.  Catherine wanted the whole photography experience to be as reportage as possible but Brian was conscious they needed at least one or two natural portraits of the two of them together, so being able to plan this before I started the day allowed me to get through this quickly so Catherine didn’t feel too pressured or uncomfortable on her fabulous wedding day.

The wedding was as smooth as any I had been too, Brian was pretty chilled and with Catherine’s dad providing plenty of banter the time flew by.   Liverpudlians are the best wedding guests when taking reportage wedding photography.  Liverpool is truly the ideal place for a wedding photographer.

With plenty of laughs, jokes and giggles throughout the day made this wedding what it was.  As you’ll see from the photographs, it really was a special day.

I started off at Rachels mums and dads house for reportage photography of everyone’s excitement and nerves, and there were plenty of both.  It was like a house party at one stage with a great buzzing atmosphere, the house was full of Rachel’s close friends and family which really helped make wedding photographs look so natural.  A little panic set in around whether the flowers were going to arrive on time, but when they finally did it was all action stations to get the button holes on, then on to the coach with the Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral in our sights.  Got only knows how that coach got the down the street… you could just about fit one car down it.

The Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral is an amazing place, being my second wedding I had an idea of what I wanted t achieve and knew what to expect, it has to be the biggest Cathedral in the North West, inside it’s huge.

I took full advantage of the Cathedrals architecture and used the pillars as features within the images,  I think Rachel and Phil thought I was mad at the time but after seeing the photographs appreciated what my plan was, I have a good photographic eye,  different to most Liverpool Wedding Photographers, which I suppose is why they hired me.

The next stop was the Liverpool Crowne Plaza, it’s a privileg being a Wedding Photographer in Liverpool, it’s one of the most wonderful places to have a wedding, especially by the Liver Buildings, the architecture is amazing.  We made full use the the Liver Building and got some fantastic shots, I always want to give the Bride and Groom a variety of shots to use for their wedding album, Rachel knew she wanted the Liver Building incorporated into their photographs, so I mixed the portrait session upwith some wide angle & close up shots, kept some colour and converted some to Black & White provide Rachel and Phil a good mix to choose from.  It was left up to them to choose their photographs for their album, tell me what you think using the comment box below.

A little Adelphi Hotel legend:

Hotel history:

The Adelphi Hotel Liverpool opened it’s doors in Liverpool in 1826 to which gained its reputation over many years as being the City Hotel to stay in.  The 20th Century was a new era for the hotel as in 1912 it was rebuilt in it’s exact location to where it is now and as much effort and thought was put into it as was 1826.  The Adelphi had marble walls in the bathroom, heated swimming pool, sauna, huge dining rooms and bedrooms, and of course the amazing ballroom….. Well this Hotel was certainly the place to be… and why not in 2011 the setting for Kate and Dans beautiful wedding.

If you’ve been luckily enough to stay at the Adelphi you will appreciate it’s scale, the rooms are massive and full of character and real old fashioned elegance.

The Big Day:

Reportage wedding photography was the brief from Kate & Dan who looked hard for a Liverpool wedding photographer who could offer this style, and then they came across yours truly… Mr Matthew Rycraft.  If your going to get married in a venue like the Adelphi, you have to make sure your Liverpool wedding photographer has the ability to come up trumps!

With a sunny day ahead, on March 19th 2011, Kate and Dan were surly looking forward their wedding. Dan, incredibly relaxed with a grin from ear to ear, had some fun before the ceremony with his Best Man, Dad and of course me in front of the Adelphi Hotel for some pre ceremony wedding photographs.  As time was getting close to the big moment…. Everyone decided to head back to the ceremony room to greet guests arriving.

The big moment came so soon, arrival of the bride, I’m sure everyone would agree that attended Kate looked stunning and her wedding dress was gorgeous, Dan couldn’t have been happier and with their little baby son, Lucas, joining in for the wedding ceremony everyone had a wonderful time.  And I enjoyed every minute of it.

Despite the weather for the day being very wet it was an all around fun filled day, Victoria and Carl very much wanted the style of their Alma Inn wedding photographs to be reportage or as some say photojournalistc.  It was a great way to start the year off.

These wedding photographs have really captured the subtle ceremony, relaxed & fun atmosphere.  Carl, the groom, was up for a bit of fun.  There’s one shot where Carl and his pals hijacked the bands set up to create an album cover style shot of all of his close mates, it was a great laugh…  see if you can find the photograph.

It was a white wintery day with a spot of drizzle but I was sure the sun trying to break through, however, during the ceremony the snow started to float down, if there was ever a more perfect time, that was it.

Meols Hall in Southport was the chosen Venue for the wedding reception. Having attended 2 weddings at Meols Hall twice before I was made up to be going again and had been looking forward to this day for a long time.

They got Married at St Peters & Pauls Church in Crosby then we headed over to Aintree Racecourse. The sun was beaming the guests were great and the whole day went to plan.

Being my third Aintree Racecourse Wedding I knew that one of the most important aspects of the wedding venue is the Red Rum Statue in front of the Queen Mother Stand is iconic.  Most Liverpool Wedding Photographers miss this not knowing the area.  This is one of my advantages, knowing most venues in Liverpool enables me to make sure nothing is missed.  I tend to use the Red Run statue as the backdrop to the group shots giving the wedding photographs that little Racecourse touch.

I arrived to found Simon in the Pig and Whistle around the corner calming his nerves with a quick pint, Michelle shortly arrived as soon as I dragged the guys out of the Pub to get to the St Nics!  The ceremony was wonderful and the room at the Crowne Plaza Liverpool looked fantastic, so was the meal… Thank you guys.

The ceremony was conducted at Liverpool Register Office at the Liverpool Cotton Exchange . Diane and Allan weren’t too keen on having too any but lots of documentory wedding photography style photographs of everyone and plenty of natural portraits in and around the Pier Head and in front of the Liver Building. Diane and Allan suggested they would send me a list of shots to take on the day, but after seeing a recent wedding at Liverpool front they made the decision to have a bit of fun & let me “do my thing”.  After the ceremony congratulations from friends an family we headed to the side of the Liverpool Registrar Office where we got some stunning shots.

I think Diane an Allan would agree, probably the most fun part of the day was persuading the open top bus driver at the Pier Head to let us on & take some funky portrait shots.

Onwards to Briars Hall Hotel, the weather ignored my sun dance and tried to dampen our spirits!!! but luckily enough the sun came out just as we wanted to go outside for the group shots and wedding portraits.

Mathews dad works for a printers in Southport so they only required their wedding photographs on DVD as they were going to design their own wedding album.  If your looking at getting married and don’t live in Southport and looking for wedding photographer, Southport is an ideal place with venues like Marshside Road Methodist Church & Briars Hall Hotel.

Clair and Paul got married on Saturday 24th July 2010, the wonderful wedding ceremony took place in St Peters Church Woolton Village, what a grand church inside and out. With Renaulds Park just down the road it was a given that we were going to head there for Clair and Pauls portrait session, what a worthwhile journey that was, even if it was just for the honey bee shot below!!

Clair and Paul looked fantastic and it’s the first time I’ve seen a crystal bouquet! Red and crystal as the theme, take a look at Clairs fantastic Ruby Red Slippers!

Mechelle & Ricardo are one of the nicest couples I’ve worked with… oh and the most emotional wedding I’ve attended.

I started with the usual Best Man and Groome portrait at the start of the morning and managed to get a shot of their fancy wedding cuff links.  The wedding ceremony was just perfect followed by a great confetti shot out side All Hallows Church.  We opted for a group shots just at the back of the Crowne Plaza as Michelle wanted to get the guests to the Crowne Plaza asap for arrival drinks and did’;t wan the church as the backdrop.  For the portrait session Michelle, Ricardo and their daughter went for a stroll past the Malmaison for the a portrait session by the new bridge on Liverpool front.

Thank you Mechelle and Ricardo for allowing myself and Andrea to be apart of the day!

Derby Park across the road followed, we completed the group photographs well ahead of schedule then went onto the Bride & Groom portrait session, again, great weather and a great couple, credit to Ellen and Danny for allowing me to take them to a couple of spots in the park…. i think it was worth it!

I finished the wedding photography off at The Park Hotel Netherton , Aintree, Liverpool, and got some great documentary style wedding photography and a final couple of the beautiful bride and groom.

This great weather seems to be a regular occurrence with me!

After the ceremony Sam and Steve headed off to Brook Meadow Wirral, Brook Meadow is surrounded by beautiful countryside in rural Childer Thornton, an ideal location for wirral wedding photography, and one best Wirral Wedding Venues and it didn’t disappoint. One of my favourite images of the portrait session was when I went to get everyone ready for the group shot, I came back ad Sam and Steve were having a chat on the grounds, I approached snapped them with the greenery in the foreground (third image from last below).

We go some great shots, both Sam and Steve were a pleasure to work with and very patient.

The Pagoda setting behind the registry office is beautiful, we had some great fun with traditional group shots (the image where the boys are facing the wall is a favourite), then with a reservoir dogs style image of the boys.

Having only about 30 minutes to complete a range of portrait shots of the Bride and Groom, I believe I managed the time exceptionally well, the outcome far surpassed what I thought would be possible with the limited time we had…. But I’ll let you be the judge of that!

The grounds at Eaves Hall are a wedding photographers dream, there is so much to choose from. In a venue like this I would typically have a look at the site before arriving and scope out areas to have bride and groom portraits, then generally go for a walk with these ideas in mind and see what happens.  I like to be prepared for the shots I have in mind but at the same time let the bride and groom go for a walk in peace whilst photographing them.  Obviously I place them in positions I want but leave the rest to them, I find my photographs are more natural that way.

As you’ll see from the Eaves Halls Wedding Album it was one of my most memorable weddings to date with several of my favourite wedding photographs of all time.

We couldn’t have asked for a better location and weather for my last part of Nicky and Mikes special day. We got some of the most amazing wedding photographs at the Doubletree Chester, one of which has landed a prime spot on my front page at www.matthewrycraft.co.uk

An ideal mix for my style of photography allowing the introduction of deep colour and contrast, especially in the John Lennon Bridal suite with the white piano. Lelir and John had permanent smiles and giggled all the way through the portrait session, this has really shone though in the photographs, please take a minute and view some of my favourite shots of the day.

The Hard Days night hotel is an ideal wedding venue for anyone looking for something a little different, or some who is a fan of The Beatles and the staff their are amazing, so is the food.

Arriving at St Mary’s Fernyhagh Nigel was very relaxed, we completed a few photographs outside the church whilst the boys were talking about the day ahead. After the lovely ceremony we traveled to Stanley House in Mellor n/r Blackburn for the evening function. It was a great day and with spring just arrived we wanted to make best use of the gorgeous daffodils in the courtyard, it was here we got some of the most memorable Wedding Photographs of the day.

Trevor and Anne’s big day was photographed to perfection between the church and the Crowne Plaza in Speke, Liverpool.  Trevor is Australian and Anne Irish, not a mix you see often but they’re madly in love. Trevor, an Airline Pilot, wanted a venue with features that resembled his passion for airplanes, so the Crowne Plaza in Speke is the most ideal wedding venue in Liverpool.  Once being the main Speke – Liverpool Airport, it has a Plane Graveyard at the year and has some of the most wonderful Art Deco Architecture found in Liverpool.
